Bereavement, Grief & Loss

All of us experience bereavement and loss at some point in our lives, often more than once. Many think this only refers to death but it is far broader than that alone. Grief and grieving is a process people go through that includes a variety of emotions as well as practical adjustments people make following their loss.

To experience a loss simply means to lose something of value to you, this could include but not limited to; a person, a pet, a job, a home, a relationship or piece of jewellery. Grief is the natural and often complex response people experience and can manifest in many different and varied emotions.

There isn’t a right and and wrong way to grieve. There isn’t a time frame and it’s not about getting over the loss, in particular if it’s a death, it’s unfair to expect a person to not still be sad about the loss. However with time and support my clients that have experienced this are able to process the loss and adjust to the new ‘norm’ and learn to be able to enjoy life once again. If you feel you need support with a loss you’ve not yet processed and would like to have counselling please get in touch.
